Tickets

Do I have to buy tickets in advance?

No. You can usually visit us during our opening hours without booking in advance. However, it is recommended that you purchase tickets online to reduce or avoid waiting times.

Can I reserve tickets?

No. It is not possible to reserve tickets. However, you can buy online tickets in advance. For groups of 15 people or more, please make a reservation in advance by telephone (+49 2774/9236-541) or by e-mail to info@nationalesautomuseum.de.

Can I purchase vouchers from you? Do you send them to me?

You can purchase tickets for our museum without a specific date directly on site or in our web store. The tickets are valid for one year from the date of purchase. Vouchers for the museum store and the restaurant are also available on site.

Can I pay with a debit or credit card?

We accept all major debit and credit cards on site.

Are there discounts?

Yes, there are discounts for pensioners, students, children (6-14 years) and severely disabled persons. Please show the relevant proof to the ticket office staff. Is the person accompanying a severely disabled person admitted free of charge?

The accompanying person of a severely disabled person who is recognized as medically necessary has free admission, provided this is noted on the severely disabled person’s ID card. The relevant proof must be presented to the ticket office staff.

Opening hours

When is the museum open?
The following opening hours apply for the permanent and special exhibition up to and including 23 November 2025:

Mon–Tue : closed
Wed-Fri: 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Sat and Sun: 10:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

From 26 November 2025, only the special exhibition will be open. Guided tours and events are available on request during the low season. You can find all current opening hours here.
When is the restaurant open?
Wed-Fri: 11:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Sat and Sun: 10:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.

Due to the high demand a reservation is necessary, please call +49 2774 9236-582.

Your Visit

Do you have longer waiting times for admission?

There may be waiting times at peak times.

How long does a visit to the exhibition usually take?

On average, visitors spend about 2 1/2 hours in the exhibition. However, there are also guests who stay for 4-5 hours.

If I book for a specific time slot, can I come beforehand? What happens if I am late?

Access is activated 15 minutes in advance. If you arrive a little later, that’s no problem. Just let the staff at the museum ticket desk know.

If I book a specific slot, how long can I stay?

During museum opening hours, for as long as you wish.

Are the New York New York restaurant and Café Avus only open to visitors to the exhibition?

No, you can also visit the Restaurant New York New York and Café Avus independently of the museum without an admission ticket.

Is there free parking?

The parking lot directly at the museum costs €1 per additional hour from the second hour.

Is the museum barrier-free?

The museum is barrier-free. The special exhibition can be accessed by wheelchair users and people with physical disabilities using the elevator. We do not provide aids such as walking frames, wheelchairs or baby carriages. Please bring these with you

Do you have a checkroom and lockers?

Yes, we have a checkroom and lockers free of charge, which can be used for a deposit of €1. If you have large bags, umbrellas or other bulky items, please do not bring them into the exhibition area. The museum does not take any liability for the checkroom and lockers.

Can photographs be taken on your premises?

Yes, you are welcome to take photographs, but without flash or tripod and exclusively for private purposes. Any other use of photos must be agreed with us in advance and approved in writing. Please contact us in advance by e-mail atr info@nationalesautomuseum.de and register with the ticket office staff when you arrive.

Can I bring a dog with me

No. Pets are not permitted in the museum or restaurant. The exception is our outdoor café AVUS.

Guided tours

Are there guided tours at certain times?

We are happy to offer guided tours on request and for an additional charge.

How far in advance do I need to book a guided tour?

As early as possible. Please send us your preferred date by e-mail to info@nationalesautomuseum.de. We will then get in touch with you as soon as possible.

In which languages are guided tours offered?

Guided tours are available in German and English.

National Automobile Museum App

During your visit to the museum, you can discover the history behind the museum’s exhibits with the National Automuseum app. The app is available free of charge from the App Store and Google Play. Tablets on which the app can be used can be borrowed from the ticket office for a fee. The use, function and content of the app are free additional services provided by the museum for our visitors. We do not offer compensation for restrictions. Please contact our staff directly if you have any problems.

Special exhibitions

When is the next special exhibition and what is its theme?

The theme will be announced on our website and in the newsletter.

Can I only visit the special exhibition and skip the permanent exhibition?

Yes, that is possible. However, a visit to the permanent exhibition is highly recommended.

Museum shop

Can I buy items from the museum store online?

The items from the store are only available exclusively on site. We do not currently offer shipping of our items.

Motorhomes

Do you have motorhome parking?

Yes, there are motorhome parking spaces available for €16 per day. Please report to the ticket office staff on arrival.

E-charging stations

Do you have e-charging stations?

Yes, there are two e-charging stations in the museum parking lot.

Other

Do you send out flyers?

No, these can be picked up free of charge at the museum or at attending events.
