Rally fans and Walter Röhrl fans should definitely make a note: the second ‘AUTOMOBILSPORT Tag der Legenden’ on Saturday, 13 December, will be all about Walter Röhrl. The man whom Niki Lauda once described as a ‘genius behind the wheel’. Yes, Röhrl was European Rally Champion (1974) and twice World Champion (1980 and 1982). But these titles pale in comparison to the indelible fame Walter Röhrl earned at the Monte Carlo Rally. Röhrl won this crazy roulette on ice and snow four times.
Some of his companions will certainly contribute experiences and anecdotes that have rarely or never been heard before to the podium talk organised by the Nationales Automuseum and Sportfahrer-Verlag. They will be elicited in this ‘petrol talk’ by columnist, ex-racing driver and scene expert Eckhard Schimpf as moderator. Where else do you get the chance to hear first-hand information? About the cars of yesteryear, the drivers, the teams and the now legendary Monte Carlo Rally, which no longer exists in its original form. Joining champion Walter Röhrl on the podium will be Röhrl’s long-time co-driver Christian Geistdörfer and former Porsche racing engineer Roland Kussmaul. A book signing with Walter Röhrl will round off the ‘Day of Legends’.
Another special highlight for collectors: two strictly limited edition model cars will be available exclusively in the museum shop during this event.
