School Campus Nationales Automuseum –Official educational campus of the state of Hessen

As a recognised educational institution of the state of Hessen, the Nationales Automuseum – The Loh Collection offers specific educational courses for schools in a museum-educational context.

Each course begins with a museum tour tailored to the target group, during which the pupils learn about the historical development of the automobile, the social context and its stylistic evolution.

After the guided tour, the pupils are introduced to the respective task, the instruction sheets, tools and materials etc. in the museum workroom before they start with the creative tasks. They are coached by our museum educators, who are available to support them at all times.

The results of their work are presented to each other at the end, tested or awarded prizes and each pupil receives a certificate of participation.

The courses are offered for primary and secondary schools and are individually coordinated with the schools.

The courses can also be requested as part of the ‘Pupils’ Holiday Pass‘ or “Girls” and Boys’ Day’.

The museum currently offers the following courses:

Car drawing – half-day course

In the ‘Car Drawing’ course, pupils learn how to draw a vehicle in two dimensions and in perspective. All pupils receive a certificate.

Car soldering – half-day course

In the ‘Soldering cars’ course, pupils learn how to produce a three-dimensional lattice frame model of a vehicle selected from the museum using copper wire and solder. All pupils receive a certificate.

Building soapboxes – one-day course

In the ‘Building Soapboxes’ course, pupils learn how to build a soapbox for small four-wheeled vehicles out of corrugated cardboard and use it in a small competition. The first 3 winners of the ‘race’ are honoured. All pupils receive a certificate.
